Less than two months after signing a four-year $114 million deal to remain with the Indianapolis Colts, former University of Cincinnati Bearcats receiver Alec Pierce has undergone surgery.

In a pre-NFL Draft press conference, Colts GM Chris Ballard said Pierce had a "clean-up" ankle surgery that will keep him out for three months. It's expected Pierce will be back by training camp.

Pierce has averaged over 20 yards per catch the past two seasons for the Colts. He had 47 receptions for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Alec Pierce was touchdown maker for UC Bearcats before NFL career

In addition to being a mechanical engineering graduate at UC, he had 52 catches for 884 yards and seven touchdowns for the 2021 Bearcats that made the College Football Playoff Semifinal against Alabama. His top-yardage game was 144 yards in the Oct. 2, 2021, win in South Bend, Indiana, over Notre Dame.

Pierce was a second-round NFL Draft pick of the Colts in 2022, when UC had a record eight players selected.
