Beaufort Memorial in Beaufort, S.C., has appointed a leader to a newly created role and expanded the role of another leader.
Courtney Smith was named inaugural COO and vice president of operations, while Kim Yawn was named vice president of marketing and development, expanding her leadership role within the organization, according to separate April 20 hospital news releases shared with Becker’s.
Ms. Smith previously served as associate vice president of operations at Beaufort Memorial.
In her new role, she will manage day-to-day operations, including operational support systems such as imaging, rehab services, dietary and environmental services, and plant services, according to a news release. She will also oversee facility improvements and capital investments.

The leadership changes come as the organization expands, with a new hospital expected to open in 2027 and a new freestanding emergency department/urgent care hybrid model expected to open around the same time.
