China Eastern Airlines has launched a new direct service between Xi’an and Vienna International Airport, marking the first-ever nonstop connection between the two cities.
Operated three times per week using an Airbus A330-200, the new route significantly strengthens Vienna’s connectivity to Asia while opening additional capacity for both passenger and cargo flows.
Beyond passenger travel, the service provides important new bellyhold capacity for air cargo, supporting the movement of high-value and time-sensitive shipments such as e-commerce goods, pharmaceuticals, and industrial components between Europe and China.
Vienna Airport highlighted that the connection further reinforces its role as a key logistics hub for Central and Eastern Europe, enhancing trade flows along one of the world’s most important air cargo corridors.
