HONG KONG, CHINA. Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from potential partners to build the Yacht Bay component of its Skytopia development.

Through the EOI process, the airport authority is seeking global operators with expertise in marina development and operations, yacht services, hospitality, tourism and large-scale mixed-use projects.

The submission deadline for the EOI is 2 November 12 noon (HK time).

The ambitious Skytopia integrates commercial activities, popular culture, art trading, entertainment and leisure.

The development is designed to leverage Hong Kong’s unique strengths and maximise the land and marine assets surrounding Hong Kong International Airport.

Spanning 200 hectares of water, Yacht Bay is a key feature of Skytopia, envisioned as Asia’s leading nautical destination comprising three water-focused zones – the Airport Bay Marina, Marine Resort and aquatic entertainment area.

The Airport Bay Marina is set to become Hong Kong’s largest facility of its kind, offering 500 berths for vessels up to 100m long.

The Marine Resort will include hotel accommodation with direct marina access, alongside a waterfront promenade featuring dining and leisure offerings.

The wider Yacht Bay area will also feature Hong Kong’s largest aquatic entertainment and water recreation zone, offering activities for visitors of all ages.

AAHK noted its plan to invest in the enabling works and infrastructural facilities, such as the piazza and cove-side promenade.

The Yacht Bay will be integrated into Skytopia’s wider offerings in entertainment, art, convention and exhibition, food & beverage, tourism, and more.

Skytopia will leverage its access to Hong Kong International Airport, with its distinctive sea-air-land integration model, enabling yacht-to-flight and flight-to-waterfront experiences within a single destination. Located at the centre of the Greater Bay Area, it will also serve as a key hub for economic activity.

Airport Authority Hong Kong CEO Vivian Cheung said: “Skytopia offers an exceptional scale and prime location for water-themed projects rarely found in established international markets.

“The launch of this Expression of Interest exercise marks another important milestone in Skytopia’s journey, following the recent signing of a contract to develop a dedicated art storage facility.

“These developments underscore our commitment to realising Skytopia as a world-class destination that integrates air travel with entertainment and waterfront leisure.

“We invite the global marina, hospitality and investment sectors to contribute innovative ideas and collaborate with us in launching a new chapter of yacht tourism in Asia.”
