The oldest and largest track and field competition in the country returns to Philadelphia this week — get ready for the 2026 Penn Relays.

Originally known as the "Penn Relay Carnival", the Penn Relays have been held on the the University of Pennsylvania campus since 1895. The event features top athletes from middle schools, high schools and colleges across the United States, plus Open, Masters and Special Olympics races.

Many interesting storylines will be taking place on the collegiate level in this year's event. Washington stunned the opposition last year in the men's 4xMile, and they'll be back to defend that title. Virginia's women will be looking to do the same in the distance medley mile, with which they made history in 2025.

Penn Relays start time 2026

• Date: Thursday, April 23 – Saturday, April 25

• Time: 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. ET

The 2026 Penn Relays will get started on Thursday, April 23, and conclude on Saturday, April 25. Competition will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The entire meet will be held at Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania's campus in Philadelphia.
