Scottie Scheffler hasn't won this year on the PGA Tour since his first start in January at The American Express.

But he's trending, he's been consistently in contention, and proof of that is that he has assumed his familiar spot atop the PGA Tour FedEx Cup points list this week.

Scheffler's second solo second in a row at the RBC Heritage (he was second in the Masters the week before) put him on top of the points list for the first time this season, but only by 37 points over the man who beat him on the first playoff hole on April 20 at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, S.C., Matt Fitzpatrick.

Collin Morikawa is third, Players champion Cameron Young fourth and Jacob Bridgeman fifth.

Scheffler may well lose his lead this week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He's not in the field and Fitzpatrick is playing in the team event with his brother Alex. The winners get 400 FedEx Cup points each.

Fitzpatrick is the only player in this week's field who can overhaul Scheffler. Every other player on the points list who is in the field at the TPC Louisiana is more than 400 points behind Scheffler.
