The Penn Relays are under way at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a full slate of girls and women's events scheduled for Thursday at the high school, college, and master's levels of competition.

Two Jamaican teams got the day started with back-to-back wins in the 4X800 relays as Sydney Pagon STEM edged out yet another Jamaican quartet from Edwin Allen in the opening race with a time of 9:01:33. Alphansus Davis of Jamaica then held off South Lakes of Virginia in the second relay, clocking in at 9:08:30.

Other winners included the teams from William Penn Charter (PA) and IMG Academy (FL).

The girls 4X100 heats came next, and again, two Jamaican teams finished in first in their respective heats including Edwin Allen set a pace of 45.63 seconds just ahead of The Bullis School of Maryland. St. Jago also reached the line first in its hit with a time of 45.73 seconds ahead of The St. James Performance Academy of Virginia.

Prior to the two Jamaican victories, teams from New Jersey (Henry Snyder), Delaware (Howard Tech), and Pennsylvania (Hempfield and J.P. McCoskey) coasted to victory in their own individual heats.

This year marks the 130th running of the Penn Relays, an event that dates back to April 21, 1895. It's the oldest track and field competition staged in the United States with more than 15,000 athletes competing annually and at least 100,000 spectators regularly attending across the event's three days.

The high school portion of the Penn Relays will feature the girls relay events on Thursday before the boys events take center stage on Friday.

The Penn Relays will continue through Saturday, April 25.

The 2026 Penn Relays will get started on Thursday, April 23, and conclude on Saturday, April 25. Competition will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The entire meet will be held at Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania's campus in Philadelphia.
