Airbus is marking the 10th anniversary of the first aircraft delivery from the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama.

The facility delivered Airbus’ first U.S.-assembled aircraft, an A321 affectionately known as “BluesMobile,” to JetBlue on April 25, 2016. Since then, the facility has delivered more than 600 aircraft to customers across the U.S. and Latin America and its operations continue to grow.

“As we look back over the last 10 years, we’re reminded the delivery of our first aircraft was a defining moment, not only for Airbus but also the City of Mobile, the State of Alabama and the U.S.,” said Daryl Taylor, SVP of Commercial Aircraft Operations in the U.S.

“It represented the beginning of our journey that has taken us far beyond our initial expectations. The growth we’ve achieved at our Mobile site since our operations began in 2015 has been both extraordinary and unprecedented. It’s a testament to our team’s dedication to satisfying our customers with the highest quality aircraft and to the unwavering commitment of our community stakeholders and industry partners.”

The facility, located at Mobile’s Brookley Aeroplex, has tripled in size since the inaugural “BluesMobile” delivery and includes two A320 Family final assembly lines and one A220 final assembly line, support hangars and an expanded delivery center designed to support Airbus’ global single aisle ramp-up.

The site employs more than 2,000 team members and spans nearly 200 acres with 2.5 million square feet of commercial manufacturing and office space.

Airbus is an essential part of the U.S. aerospace industry and serves as an employer of choice for 7,000 employees working across 40 Airbus and subsidiary sites in 13 states and the District of Columbia comprising corporate offices; innovation, engineering and training centers; robotics and manufacturing sites; and maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities.
