The Todd Pletcher-trained Renegade is one of the top contenders to win the 2026 Kentucky Derby. Sired by Into Mischief, the 3-year-old colt is third on the Derby leaderboard with 125 points, highlighted by a Grade 1 Arkansas Derby victory.

But, for some, where the horse is positioned is just as important as the horse's record (Renegade is 2-2-1 in five career starts). Renegade and the rest of the Derby field will find out which post in the starting gate they'll be running out of today during the Derby post position draw at Churchill Downs. The morning-line odds will also be set today, with Renegade having a strong chance of being the favorite at around 4-1 odds, according to Nick Tammaro, Churchill Downs' new morning-line oddsmaker.

Post No. 5 has produced the most winners (10), though Sovereignty became the third horse to win from the 18th post last year.

The 2026 Kentucky Derby post-position draw is scheduled to begin shortly after the Oaks post-position draw, which is scheduled for around 2 p.m. You can watch a livestream of the draw above.
