Defensive lineman Joshua Josephs was selected in the fifth round of the NFL draft by Washington (No. 147 overall). He joins the Commanders after four seasons with the Vols from 2022-25.
Josephs’ first collegiate career sack was against LSU on Oct. 8, 2022. The Vols defeated LSU, 40-13, at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
During the first quarter, Josephs sacked LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels enters his third season with Washington after being drafted No. 2 overall in 2024 and winning the 2023 Heisman Trophy.
"Shoutout to him," Josephs said of Daniels after being drafted by Washington. "I got my first collegiate sack on him."
The former Vol recorded two tackles, one sack and one tackle for a loss in Tennessee’s road win. Daniels completed 32-of-45 passing attempts for 300 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while totaling 38 rushing yards on 16 attempts.
"I think that was my first play in that game, and I think it was the first play of the drive and just it happened, fell into my lap,” Josephs said of his sack against Daniels.
