A 2-4 week has made for some sad Guardians fans, but there’s still some positive moments to be found.
Martínez Heating Up
In his last seven games, outfielder Angel Martínez has hit .318/.318/.773, heating up from his previous two seasons. He’s also been flashing the leather in center field, saving at least a few runs in some close games. In 2026 so far, he’s hitting .289/.330/.530 with five home runs and 15 RBI. He’s been a key contributor so far, finding himself moving up into the second spot in the lineup for Sunday’s finale versus the Toronto Blue Jays. If he can continue to contribute in big moments, he’ll be a key player throughout 2026 and into the future.
Teams Supporting Each Other
With both the Guardians and the Cavaliers playing up in Toronto this weekend, they had the opportunity to support each other during their days off. The Guards took Thursday’s off day to support the Cavs in game three of the first round of the playoffs versus the Toronto Raptors. The Cavs then returned the favor by visiting the Guards at Rogers Centre for Friday’s series opener. While the Guards didn’t bring the Cavs any luck as they lost 126-104, the Cavs were able to provide some luck for the Guards in their 8-6 win.
DeLauter Breaks Skid in Big Way
After his hot start to the season, Chase DeLauter has been experiencing a bit of a slump as of late. That was until the bottom of the eighth inning in Tuesday’s game versus the Houston Astros. DeLauter came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit the ball *almost* perfectly. It traveled to the left field corner where Brice Matthews had trouble fielding it. That gave DeLauter time to sprint to third base, clearing the bases and giving the Guards a 6-4 lead. This hit broke an 0-12 streak for DeLauter who has since been seeing the ball much better.
Social Media Spotlight
This week’s Social Media Spotlight highlights the camaraderie that this team has. Silly moments such as the one shown below where Hunter Gaddis is playing a lawn mowing simulator show how loose and comfortable the team is with each other, and how much fun they have in the clubhouse.
