Before the season started, the Kansas City Royals were a team that many picked to at least fight for an AL Central championship later this year. However, they have gotten off to a terrible start.

The offense and the bullpen have been extremely shaky. The only part where the team does not have some worries is in their starting pitching staff.

Bobby Witt Jr has struggled at the plate, along with Jac Caglianone, who was expected to be a big part of the team's offense this year. But maybe the two can start to get it going after the week they had.

Royals starting to make up ground after strong offensive weekend

Caglianone was able to lift his first home run last Monday against the Baltimore Orioles and hit his second of the year a few days later, a two-run homer on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels to help tie the game and send it to extra innings, in which they would win.

Witt also hit a home run during Sunday's affair, and that helped them complete the sweep over the Halos. With this, Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller bumps the Royals up slightly from their No. 29 position last week to sitting No. 25 now.

"Maybe, just maybe, the Royals found something this week. After averaging 3.2 runs during their 7-15 start, they exploded for 7.7 runs over the past six contests, including storming back from an early 6-0 deficit for that wild walk-off in the Sunday night game against the Angels."

It seemed like it would just be a matter of time until this offense started operating like many thought it would. If they can turn this ship around, the AL Central is still pretty wide open, as no team has taken a clear advantage as of yet. Not like the Atlanta Braves in the NL East.
