There aren’t many fights in the next few months that have captured fan interest quite like Nate Diaz vs Mike Perry.

On May 16, MVP MMA’s Netflix event will see Diaz back in action after a four-year hiatus when he takes on Perry. The bout promises to deliver all the chaos and entertainment fans have come to expect from both men.

Diaz was initially in discussions to return to the UFC for a trilogy bout with Conor McGregor. But instead, he chose a different path outside of the promotion, where this time he’ll meet a fresh face rather than an old rival.

Charles Oliveira weighs in on Diaz vs Perry

There was a bit of back and forth when Diaz said he’d slap Oliveira during early return talks, a comment he later apologised for.

At first, Oliveira didn’t seem too interested in the matchup, but his stance has shifted since then. Now he says he’d be open to making it happen.

Speaking to Bloody Elbow via CasinoHawks, Oliveira weighed in on the bout:

“It’s mad. Nate is a fighter. Perry is a fighting man also. Two men who came through the UFC scene and now they’re not there anymore. They’re going to make a lot of money in this little scrap of theirs,” Oliveira told Bloody Elbow via CasinoHawks.

“For me, it’ll be fun to watch, because they’re two guys who genuinely sell fights. They talk rubbish, criticise each other and then throw down. So it’ll be brilliant to watch. The last Mike Perry fight I saw him bare-knuckle, marching forward just scrapping.

Although Diaz turned down the opportunity to return to the premier promotion earlier this year, there is still potential for him to return someday.

If McGregor makes his expected July 11 return and comes away with a win, it could finally set up the long-awaited trilogy between the two.

Meanwhile, rumours are swirling that ‘Do Bronx’ might face Arman Tsarukyan next while both wait for Ilia Topuria vs Justin Gaethje at the UFC White House event to play out.
