New England Patriots rookie edge rusher Gabe Jacas had a strong statement for Coach Mike Vrabel after being selected on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft.

“What up, Coach?! Send me the playbook! I’m ready to go! I’m ready! Aye, I’m ready! I’m ready!” Jacas told Vrabel over the phone.

Jacas was taken in the second round with the 55th overall selection. There's hope that he'll bring the pass-rushing element that the Patriots have been missing on the defensive front. He is a powerful defender with a high motor, capable of blowing up an offensive backfield at a moment's notice.

In his final season at Illinois, he racked up 43 tackles, 11 sacks, 13.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. He was a proven game-wrecker at the collegiate level. Can he bring that same level of success to the NFL?

The rookie will have a chance to make an immediate impact for a Patriots team with Dre'Mont Jones and Harold Landry III as their top edge rushers.
