The Big West Conference named University of Hawaii softball pitcher Maryn MacNeil its Freshman of the Week on Monday after she threw a one-hit shutout Friday against Cal Poly in her first collegiate start.
In the second game of Friday’s doubleheader, MacNeil went the distance in a five inning, 8-0 win. She allowed the Mustangs’ only hit in the fourth inning. She walked one and struck out none.
No Rainbow Wahine had won the conference Freshman of the Week award since 2023 (Keyannah Campbell-Pua and Millie Fidge.
