Kansas City Royals ace Michael Wacha was in the middle of pitching to Athletics slugger Carlos Cortes when he suffered a wardrobe malfunction. Wacha's chain got loose and the right-hander removed and placed it in his back pocket all in one motion without stepping away from the mound.

Without allegedly giving a nod to the hitter, Wacha darted a fastball for a strike. Soon after, the home plate umpire heard some noise coming out of the A's dugout. The next thing we know, he ejected a coaching member of the A's staff. First, there was confusion on who was actually ejected before A's hitting coach Chris Cron came out to confirm if he was the one who was thrown out.

Broadcasters suggested that Chron was upset about the fact that Walker, dealing with a wardrobe slip, didn't step off, and all in one motion took the chain off, put it in his back pocket, and then stepped right into his windup, his delivery, and came home. Cortes clearly wasn't ready.

After the ejection, Wacha threw a ball, leading to a walk.

Michael Wacha puts Royals in tough spot with A's

Michael Wacha didn't particularly have a nice game going against the Athletics on Wednesday night. He allowed an RBI double to Jeff McNeil as the A's tied the score. The fourth inning was a complete disaster, ending with a three-run home run from Lawrence Butler.

All in all, in five frames, Wacha allowed four earned runs, putting the Royals back by three runs. The game is still live, with the A's leading 5-1 in the top of the ninth inning.
