After letting John Franklin-Myers walk during NFL free agency in March, the Denver Broncos shored up their defensive line depth by selecting Texas A&M defensive lineman Tyler Onyedim in the third round of the 2026 NFL draft.
Onyedim (6-3, 292 pounds) will probably end up primarily serving as a rotational defensive lineman as a rookie before potentially emerging as a starter in 2027, but he'll get an opportunity to impress this summer.
Zach Allen is locked in as one of the team's starting defensive ends, and D.J. Jones is back as their starting nose tackle. Malcolm Roach is a quality rotational option behind D.J. Jones while Sai’vion Jones seems to be the early favorite to start in the place of JFM across from Allen. Eyioma Uwazurike could be a dark horse to watch as well.
Defensive line (10)
• DE: Zach Allen, Tyler Onyedim
• DT: D.J. Jones, Malcolm Roach
• DE: Sai'vion Jones, Eyioma Uwazurike
• Depth: Jordan Jackson, Matt Henningsen, Jordan Miller, Kristian Williams
Keep in mind that this is a projected depth chart, not an official depth chart from the club. The Broncos won't be required to release an official depth chart until preseason begins later this summer.
Last year, Denver carried seven defensive linemen on the initial 53-man roster. If they plan to carry similar numbers in 2026, the defensive line will feature some tough battles for roster spots this summer.
