Similar to Denver Broncos fourth-round rookie running back Jonah Coleman, fifth-round rookie tight end Justin Joly will have to pick a new jersey number in the NFL.

Joly wore No. 7 (2025) and No. 15 (2024) at NC State after wearing No. 17 at Connecticut (2022-2023). Before college, he wore No. 24 and No. 7 playing high school football for Iona Prep in New York.

Joly obviously can't wear No. 7 in Denver because that number is retired for Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway. Joly recently asked fans on Twitter/X to create a jersey swap image of him, to which @SayreBedinger replied, "Just ask John, you never know."

Joly also probably can't wear No. 24 because, while not officially retired, the Broncostypically do not assign it out of respect to Hall of Fame cornerback Champ Bailey.

Joly's two other college numbers — No. 15 and No. 17 — are also unavailable. Denver star pass rusher Nik Bonitto wears No. 15 and new wide receiver Jaylen Waddle wears No. 17.

The list of numbers that are available for Joly includes 5, 6, 43, 46, 80, 81, 85, 86, 87 and 89. The Broncos are set to hold a rookie minicamp from May 8-10, and we should get news on rookie jersey numbers after they report to camp.
