Manchester United are monitoring West Ham United defender El Hadji Malick Diouf as they weigh up a summer move for a new left-back, according to the Guardian. Man United are preparing for life back in the Champions League next term and are hoping to lure the West Ham full-back away from the London Stadium club. The Hammers are aware of the Red Devils’ interest in the 21-year-old and at least one other leading Premier League club have looked at him.

Diouf joined West Ham from Slavia Prague in a £19 million deal last summer and has become one of their most important players following a challenging start to life in the English top-flight. He has made 28 appearances for the Hammers, weighing in with five assists, and Man United have been impressed with his defensive and attacking abilities. Luke Shaw has struggled with his fitness and the Red Devils want quality depth in the position going forward.

Diouf’s major strengths include his crossing, passing and ball interception, and Man United could do with such a talented left-back.
