Jessica Campbell put her name in the record books a couple of years ago when the Seattle Krakenhired her as an assistant coach -- she became the first woman to be a coach in NHL history. Since then, she became a fan favorite.
But on Thursday, ESPN reported that she wouldn't be back with the Kraken with her contract expiring. The Kraken then announced on social media with a statement from GM Jason Botterill that it was true: "She has expressed her desire to explore other coaching roles across the league and we support her in this process."
"Jessica has been an important member of our coaching staff for the past four years, demonstrating deep knowledge, and a unique ability to connect with and develop players," Botterill added. "We respect her decision and believe strongly in her as a coach in this league.
Sounds like both sides are in agreement here that it's time for a breakup. Hopefully she'll find a new job soon enough.
