Ricard Says Ravens’ Ending “Didn’t Feel Real”

The way it ended still doesn’t sit right with Patrick Ricard, and it probably never will.

Speaking during an appearance on Jordan Schultz’s podcast, Ricard reflected on the Ravens’ Week 18 loss in Pittsburgh, a game that perfectly summed up a season full of swings. After digging out of a 1-5 start, Baltimore fought all the way back into position with everything on the line, only for it to end in the most gut-punch way possible.

“Yeah, that was not a fun one… the fact that we were at that position after starting out 1-5 was just insane… and the next thing you know, we’re kicking the field goal. And I think just the way our season went, there was no way that kick was going in… like our season just ended on a missed kick… it didn’t feel real for a while.”

For Ricard, the hardest part wasn’t just the loss, it was how abruptly it all stopped. One moment, the Ravens were on the brink of completing an improbable turnaround. The next, the season, and his time in Baltimore was over.
