KINGSPORT, Tenn (WJHL) — Top-seeded Milligan University kept its baseball season alive with a 3-2 comeback win over Reinhardt University at Hunter Wright Stadium.
After falling behind by two runs in the opening frame, the Buffaloes began their rally in the third inning when Braxton Baird tripled and scored on a Gaven Jones double. The momentum shifted completely in the seventh as Wyatt Heidle belted a two-run home run to give Milligan the lead for good.
The victory was anchored by starter Jack McLaury, who overcame an early deficit to retire 16 of 17 batters during a dominant middle-inning stretch. McLaury earned his eighth win of the year, pitching into the ninth inning without allowing a single walk. Cole Wessel closed the game with two strikeouts to secure the save. Now 39-12, the Buffaloes move on to face either Spartanburg Methodist or Bryan College on Friday morning.
