Before Mitchell Robinson lost his mind, he was plus-29 in 9 minutes for Knicks originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

It was a really odd time for Mitchell Robinson to pick a fight.

The New York Knicks had just pushed their lead higher than 50 points, and it was still the first half.

What in the world was Robinson thinking getting into a shoving match with Atlanta Hawks standout Dyson Daniels?

Robinson didn't want to let up, either, even as multiple people tried to hold him back.

It was a bizarre scene on a bizarre night.

The Knicks would lead by as many as 61 points in their series-ending win over the Hawks. They reached 100 points before the Hawks reached 50.

And even Robinson, who didn't last very long in the game, had an absurd night.

He ended up playing just nine minutes. In those nine minutes, Robinson was a plus-29.

Yep, that's right -- the Knicks outscored the Hawks by 29 points in the nine minutes Robinson was on the floor. That's more than three points per minute.

Obviously when you look at the score, it makes some sense.

But really, that's astounding. It's just one of many astounding stats on a crazy night.

Robinson didn't even get to contribute to the rest of it. He got himself ejected. He raised questions about whether he'll be suspended for the first game of the next round.

First, though, Robinson was part of a Knicks team that put together one of the most dominant performances you've ever seen.

There probably has never been an NBA player ejected in a first half with a lead of 50-plus points. Robinson checked that box.
