Two wrongful death lawsuits have been filed against the estate Greg Biffle in connection with a plane crash that left seven people dead in December.

The lawsuits were filed by the estates of Dennis and Jack Dutton, two of the people killed in the crash. Dennis Dutton was flying the plane at the time of the crash.

The lawsuits state that Biffle was responsible for the maintenance and safety of the Cessna 500 Citation II aircraft that crashed on Dec. 18 shortly after takeoff from Statesville Regional Airport. Biffle owned the plane.

Biffle, a former NASCAR driver, was also killed in the crash, along with his son, daughter, and wife.

Both lawsuits are seeking $15 million from the Biffle estate.

The estate of Emma Biffle, Greg's daughter, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the estate of Dennis Dutton in February. Emma Biffle's estate is seeking over $10 million.

Greg Biffle received an outpour of support from the NASCAR community and the Lake Norman area at large after the crash. Biffle, a 19-time winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, was a notable humanitarian who volunteered with animal shelters and flew people to safety following Hurricane Helene.

A suspect broke into the Biffle estate on Jan. 7 and Jan. 8 and stole multiple bags, including tens of thousands of dollars in cash, two Glock handguns and NASCAR memorabilia, according to search warrants.

Iredell County deputies have not announced any arrests in the suspected theft.

No future court dates have been set in the wrongful death cases at this time.
