Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Rodri has yet to return to training for Manchester City ahead of their visit to Everton on Monday night.

The Spanish midfielder hobbled off in the closing stages of their vital 2–1 victory at home to Arsenal two weeks ago and has yet to return.

Manchester City fans will be hoping the Spaniard can return soon as they enter a crucial final five league games in a tight title race, although Monday may come too soon for Rodri’s comeback.

In his pre-match press conference, Guardiola said: “Rodri is doing better. He hasn’t trained with us yet, so we’ll see.”

Guardiola also issued an update on defenders Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol.

Dias has been out since mid March, whilst Gvardiol has been sidelined with a broken leg since early January.

Similar to Rodri, Guardiola confirmed that the pair haven’t trained yet, he said: “Dias isn’t training with the team yet, but Josko (Gvardiol) and he are doing better.”

It seems like Guardiola will again have to rely on a centre-back pairing of Marc Guehi and Abdukodir Khusanov, who have performed well in recent weeks, keeping back-to-back clean sheets in their last two league fixtures.

Should Arsenal beat Fulham on Saturday, Manchester City will go into this game six points behind the league leaders, making a victory vital for Guardiola’s side.
