International recruiting has become a major tool for college basketball programs in recent seasons, and Duke appears to have landed a prized prospect via the overseas route.

Center Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje has committed to the Blue Devils after playing professional basketball in Spain for FC Barcelona. The 7-foot, 230-pounder is originally from Florida but took his talents to Europe a few years ago.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this transaction is the fact that Boumtje Boumtje is just 16-years-old, although he will turn 17 this month. Despite his age, Boumtje Boumtje might be more ready to play in 2026 than other incoming freshmen, given his experience with FC Barcelona.

Duke head coach Jon Scheyer would seem to have an abundance of frontcourt riches heading into next season, even with the departure of Cameron Boozer.
