The Golden State Warriors were aggressive suitors at last February's trade deadline, trying to acquire big names like Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Because it may take a lot to acquire Antetokounmpo this offseason, Golden State could pivot to another NBA superstar.
In a recent article by Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, the Warriors were once again linked to a trade for Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers.
After trading away both Ivica Zubac and James Harden, Los Angeles could begin a rebuild very soon.
Not to mention, Leonard will be entering his age-35 season in the final year of his contract.
This timeline would suit Golden State quite well, as Stephen Curry will also be on the final year of his contract. If Draymond Green were to opt-in to his player option, he would remain with the team for one more year as well.
With all of this in mind, if the Warriors' 2026 first rounder improves in the lottery, it may be enough to sway Los Angeles in a potential package for Leonard.
