ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – We go back in time with 18 Sports Flashback for a special first.
In 1991, Watkins Glen International was a featured track to play in a video game for the very first time. The iconic road course was playable on Bill Elliott’s NASCAR Challenge game on the original Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was the first licensed NASCAR game to ever hit the video game market in the history of the sport.
Bill Elliott’s son, Chase, has won twice in reality at Watkins Glen back in 2018 and 2019 which is a feat that his father was unable to accomplish. In fact, 2018 was Chase’s first-ever win on the NASCAR circuit which has propelled him to great success including a Cup Series Championship in 2020.
Bill Elliott’s best finish was 3rd back in 1988 at Watkins Glen. Elliott competed in 18 NASCAR races at The Glen.
