Who had the best and worst drafts in the NFC East?

Jeremy Greene and Tank Spencer of the Sportsocracy Podcast reviewed the NFC East this week. Greene is often referred to as the "NFL Draft Nerd" because of his extensive preparation. Logan Paulsen, a former Redskins tight end, highly praises the work of Greene. Here is a quick summary of quotes from Greene on what he had to say about each NFC East team's draft.

Dallas Cowboys: A

• "It's virtually impossible to not have a winning grade when you get the number one player in the class. I think a lot of teams are really going to regret that they passed on him (Caleb Downs)."

• "If you don't see the upside to Malachi Lawrence (No. 23), I can't help you."

• "It's an 'A' for Dallas. You got the best player in the class at No. 11 and a player the Dallas Cowboys have needed since I have been alive."

New York Giants: C+

• "The worst draft class in the division, and I'm not sure it's all that close."

• "How do you plan on playing all of these guys (outside pass rushers) together? Micah Parsons laughed when the Giants took Arvell Reese and said, 'That's not a fit.'"

• "You have the No. 2 pick from last year's draft and the No. 5 pick from this year's draft and you cannot play either one of them where they belong. It's virtually impossible in a 3-4, for the four mid guys to live up to their potential with bad in front of them. This is a bad idea, and I want it on record that I said it."

• You just took Colton Hood at 37, ahead of a slew of corners that I liked better."

• Malachi Fields, 74, from Notre Dame? "Apparently, John Harbaugh (HC) didn't get the message that Fields doesn't separate well, because he runs about a 4.65. You have a quarterback who has accuracy issues at times. And you just drafted a guy that doesn't separate."

Philadelphia Eagles: A-

• "This is a team predicated on running, and their first two draft choices (Makai Lemon, Eli Stowers) are receivers who can't block at all."

• OT Markel Bell: "I like this kid, he does have upside, and they can put him in mothballs for a year."

• QB Cole Payton QB: "Now you have two quarterbacks who are not super accurate, with guys who do not separate. This is why Philadelphia does not win this draft class for me."

• G Micah Morris: "I like this kid, I think he could start before the year is out. He was one of my favorite guards later in the class."

• LB Cole Wisniewski: "This kid can play. I am shocked he lasted this long!"

• DT Uar Bernard: "It is not normal for somebody to be that freakishly athletic. This is the definition of mothballs. His first preseason game will be the first game of organized football that he has played in his life. If anybody could develop him, it is Philadelphia."

• EDGE Keyshawn James-Newby: "This kid can rush a quarterback; he will have to play stand up edge."

• "They added a lot of talent in this draft."

Washington Commanders: B-

• LB Sonny Styles: "This kid has the upside to be absolutely special."

• WR Antonio Williams: "I've talked to people around the Commanders who say, 'Oh, they believe he can play outside.' Well, they believe wrong. No doubt he is a slot receiver, and not a great one at that. And you have two other guys, Jaylin Lane and Luke McCaffrey, all three playing the exact same position. I hate this pick, especially with WR Ted Hurst still on the board. Just say Theodore Hurst instead of Antonio Williams."

• EDGE Joshua Josephs: "With the way things are in this league, he can take an almost glorified, redshirt year, to figure out a pass rush plan."

• Matt Gulbin: "Value-wise, this is the best pick in this draft. Because I think a year or two away from now, he replaces Allegretti at center. I loved this kid more and more the further into the process we got. I love that he wound up in Washington."

• QB Athan Kaliakmanis: "I vowed I'd say only nice things about the Commanders, so I am going to say, 'pass.' I genuinely don't think this kid could hit the broad side of the ocean. I have no idea how he got drafted."

• "When you are lacking a second-round pick, it is borderline impossible to build out a great class. And then when you take a weird swing in the third round, you're in trouble, even with me liking three of your final four picks."

So, there you have it, Greene sees the Cowboys with the best draft and the Eagles next, followed by the Commanders and then Giants.
