The Los Angeles Lakers just clinched their series against the Houston Rockets in six games. Los Angeles now faces a tough challenge against the defending Finals champion Oklahoma City Thunder. In the series, LeBron James led all scorers.

“James became the oldest player in NBA history to lead all players in a playoff series in total points scored, according to ESPN Research, pouring in 139 in a defensive slugfest between the two teams,” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin wrote.

James was dominant throughout the series, especially in the first four games without Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves. He hinted beforehand that this would be a big postseason for him, expressing excitement ahead of the playoffs.

“It’s going to be litty. It’s going to be crazy. I’m looking forward to it. I mean me personally like I don’t know how many more postseasons I got left in my career. And we talked about this a while ago, like getting ready for the postseason, like that moment, like it doesn’t matter what you did in the regular season. That sh*t is out the window now. Like it. Doesn’t matter. Like it starts again. This is it. So, I’m excited, man. I can’t wait,” James said.

After the game, Lakers head coach JJ Redick commented on how remarkable it is that James continues to perform at such a high level.

“Literally every single guy was going bahhh, bahhh (goat noises). It speaks to his greatness. To me, he’s had the greatest career of any NBA player. He’s one of, if not the greatest of all time,” Redick told the media.

Redick understands that his star has had a storied career and continues to make a case as the greatest ever. What James is doing is special—not only at his age, but across the entirety of his career.

The GOAT debate will always exist, and Redick clearly believes James belongs at the top. The Lakers will have a difficult matchup against the Thunder, but James’ experience could ultimately pay dividends for Los Angeles.
