LSU baseball won its first SEC series since April 5. The Tigers swept the doubleheader against South Carolina, leaning on two great pitching performances. In the second game, it was Marcos Paz and Deven Sheerin combining to limit the Gamecocks to three runs on four hits.
Cade Arrambide and Omar Serna Jr. both had a great day at the plate in game two. Arrambide finished the game 3-for-5 with a homer and an RBI. Serna finished the game 3-for-4 with an RBI and a double. LSU will look to go for the sweep in game three tomorrow. Here are three standout performances from the game.
Impressive start for Paz
In his third start of the season, Marcoz Paz got his first win of the year. He pitched five full innings and gave up zero runs on only one hit, eight strikeouts, and three walks. That is the most innings he has pitched in a single outing so far this year, and he showed out.
Arrambide homers again
Cade Arrambide had a great game in game two, finishing the game 3-for-5 with a homer and an RBI. He was also solid and threw a runner out from behind home plate.
First conference series win in a month
I feel like it has been 87 years since I have seen LSU win a conference series. The last series win came against Tennessee on April 5th. The Tigers will go for the sweep tomorrow before playing Tulane on Tuesday.
