Jim Nantz made a bold prediction of when he thinks Scottie Scheffler will complete the career Grand Slam.
Fellow CBS Sports announcer Frank Nobilo raised the subject of Scheffler, who has won three of the four legs and needs just the U.S. Open trophy to follow in the footsteps of Rory McIlroy last year and become the seventh player to join an exclusive club. Nantz, the CBS Sports longtime lead commentator for the network's golf coverage, couldn't resist giving his two cents.
"I'm not going to bet against Scottie in any tournament but I'll say next year in '27 at Pebble Beach Golf Links. That's where he'll complete the career Grand Slam," Nantz said.
"That would be something," Nobilo said.
Scheffler won the Masters in 2022 and 2024 before adding the PGA Championship last May and the British Open in July. Scheffler will have his first chance to join Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and McIlroy in the club at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in June. But Nantz, who owns a house that overlooks Pebble Beach and splits his time there, is rooting for a potential home game. He also bought Scheffler's old car at auction for a good cause and could drive to see Scheffler make history in his former wheels.
