The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Vikings still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 12 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup for the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft in a class that many are saying could be one of generational wealth.
While we will always look at mock drafts from analysts around the space, we will also keep up with our Mock Draft Mondays here on Vikings Wire.
While this used to be just an exercise used for the Fall to introduce players, the 2027 NFL Draft class is too good to be contained to those select months. Instead, we are going to do them in the Summer as well as we progress through Summer Scouting, look at the roster more through camps, and also share our opinion on players fans can watch this upcoming college season.
So with that in mind, let's dive into a 3-Round 2027 NFL Mock Draft for the Vikings.
Round 1: Quincy Rhodes Jr., Edge, Arkansas
While we have been diving into the offensive tackle group of the 2027 NFL Draft, we have noticed Quincy Rhodes Jr. flashing tons of brilliance against opponents. He explodes off the snap, uses his hand speed to overwhelm tackles, and he would provide a spark to the Vikings' pass rush. The team is going to miss Jonathan Greenard in 2026, and while Dallas Turner is poised for a massive breakout, he needs some help opposite him.
Round 2: Ty Benefield, S, LSU
The Boise State transfer is heading to the SEC to see what impact he can make for Lane Kiffin's LSU Tigers. Benefield is a rangy safety who can provide help in both the pass game and on the ground in run support. The Vikings drafted Jakobe Thomas at safety, but didn't invest big-time draft capital to do so. The team could look at another fun safety class for their solution while fans continue to wait on what is next for Harrison Smith.
Round 3: Brandon Baker, G, Texas
Will Fries is set to make a significant amount of money in 2027 as his salary jumps to $21.5 million. If the team continues its cost-cutting and decides to make some changes, they will need to draft a replacement. Brandon Baker is making the move from tackle to guard at Texas, and he looks like he can make that move rather seamlessly. If all goes according to plan, he may not be here in Round 3, but regardless, the need for a guard could be present.
Round 3: Hollywood Smothers, RB, Texas
The Vikings drafted Demond Claiborne in Round 6 of the 2026 NFL Draft, and he very well could be the future of the backfield. But what if he isn't the final piece? The team needs someone who can be a dynamic pass catcher, on top of being a reliable running back. Hollywood Smothers stayed in school to the surprise of some, and he now heads to Texas, where he can be a focal point in their backfield. He would be a fun, explosive addition to the Vikings backfield as he steers towards a makeover in 2027.
