Juan Brito had himself a day on Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and a walk after homering for the second consecutive game.
Stuart Fairchild also had a multi-hit effort, going 2-for-4 with a triple while Kody Huff impressed going 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk.
Dayan Frias also went 2-for-4. Kahlil Watson reached base safely three times, going 1-for-3 with two walks.
Starting pitcher Austin Peterson had his second consecutive excellent start, allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks in 4.0 innings.
Jake Miller and Steven Perez combined for 3.0 scoreless frames. Steven Perez allowed a pair of runs in his lone inning of work and Cody Heuer had a scoreless ninth inning to earn his third save.
Akron RubberDucks 11, Harrisburg Senators 13
Akron made history on Sunday, jumping out to an 11-0 lead after two innings (against former top Guardians pitching prospect Alex Clemmey of all people), then somehow finding a way to blow it by allowing 13 unanswered runs.
Offensively, Angel Genao had a strong performance, going 2-for-5 with a home run.
Cleveland had seen enough after this game and it was announced Genao is getting promoted to Triple-A Columbus. Woohoo!
Ralphy Velazquez walked three times and scored a pair of runs. Jake Fox walked twice and Joe Lampe went 1-for-3 with a walk, a hit by pitch, a stolen base and a sacrifice fly.
Guy Lipscomb went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk and Jose Devers went 1-for-3 with a walk.
Starting pitcher Josh Hartle wore it, giving up a whopping nine runs, all earned, on 10 hits in 4.1 innings. He struck out seven and walked one.
Lake County Captains 2, Beloit Sky Carp 16
Yuck.
Lake County scored two runs on four hits. Luke Hill led the way as the lone source of offense, going 2-for-3 with two solo home runs and a walk.
Recently activated from the injured list, Tommy Hawke went 1-for-2, walked twice and stole a base. Jaison Chourio also went 1-for-4 with a walk. Chourio also is joining the promotion train as it was announced he is moving to Double-A Akron along with starting pitcher Justin Campbell.
Melkis Hernandez was given an opportunity to start and he allowed seven runs (three earned) on five hits with four walks and two strikeouts in 3.0 innings. Xavier Martinez allowed two more runs in 2.0 innings and Luis Flores was tattooed for five runs in 0.2 innings.
The best pitcher for Lake County was shortstop Kevin Rivas, who tossed a perfect scoreless inning to put this game out of its misery.
Hill City Howlers 6, Delmarva Shorebirds 10
You don’t win many games when you allow 10 runs. Hill City’s offense was decent, scoring six runs on 10 hits, but it wasn’t enough.
Dauri Fernandez went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and two RBIs. Robert Arias went 1-for-4 with a walk, Riley Nelson went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk.
Yelferth Castillo and Ty Howard both went 2-for-4.
Starting pitcher Chase Mobley allowed four runs on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks in 3.1 innings.
