Qatar has previously limited foreign carriers from operating in and out of Hamad International Airport but the government just announced this restriction will be gradually lifted.

Various airlines will soon be able to serve Doha again, and those carriers are once again able to transport both passengers and cargo.

The restrictions were put in place for safety considerations as Qatar only allowed a limited frequency in civilian aviation and all of these slots were given to Qatar Airways and important cargo flights.

Qatar’s Aviation Authority just announced the following on X:

This might be particularly interesting for passengers who still have tickets with foreign airlines that they wish to use, either future-dated ones or those from the past that weren’t refunded yet.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about the safety of these flights anymore as the situation has more or less stabilized and there are quite a few flights each day that we have covered daily here on LoyaltyLobby.

Conclusion

The Qatari Aviation Authority has announced that foreign airlines will gradually be permitted to operate flights to/from Doha again as the restrictions are lifted. Hamad International Airport is slowly inching back to it’s previous capacity although there is still a long way to go.

If you have tickets to/from Qatar on airlines other than Qatar Airways, you might be able to use them soon again after all. I suggest having a close eye on the announcements of your carrier, or contact them for more details.
