With the 2025-26 high school sports season ongoing, the El Paso Times will give readers a chance to vote to identify El Paso's top athletes.
This week, readers can vote for which El Paso Times' El Paso Children's Hospital high school girls athlete had the best performance in tennis and track & field.
Here are this week's nominees:
• Samaya Scranton, Franklin track and field. At Class 6A area track and field meet In Class 6A, Scranton won the 400 meters (55.41 seconds) and was second in the 200 meters (55.44 seconds) and second in the 200 meters (24.42 seconds).
• Aiyanna Garcia, Pebble Hills track and field. In Class 6A area meet, Garcia was second in the 300 meter hurdles (45.23 seconds) and third in the 100 meter hurdles (16.16 seconds).
• Delilah Castro, Eastlake track and field. In Class 6A area meet, Castro placed fourth in the long jump (18-00.75) and was third in the triple jump (37-00).
• Ania Castillo, Anthony track and field. At the Class 3A area meet, she qualified for regionals in two distance events.
• Kennedi Tovar, El Paso High tennis. Tovar qualified for the Class 5A state tennis tournament as part of the team's mixed doubles team.
• Andrea Salcedo , Del Valle softball. In win vs. Parkland, she had three hits, all of them home runs. In win vs. El Dorado, she hit a home run.
• Remi Barron, Del Valle softball. In win vs. Parkland, she was winning pitcher, had 7k's, allowed 8 hits and only walked 1. She went 2-4 in hitting. In win vs. El Dorado, she added two hits and a run batted in.
• Danielle Lozoya, Socorro softball. In 3-2 win Friday vs. Montwood, she doubled in winning run. In win vs. Coronado, she was the winning pitcher.
