All eyes are set to be on Fernando Mendoza at the 2026 NFL Draft, where he's expected to be the No. 1 pick to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Mendoza has now been in the spotlight arguably more than any other college quarterback for months — after leading Indiana to an unbeaten season as the national champions, he's now set to be an NFL star.
In the weeks prior to the draft, however, an alleged old social media comment by Mendoza went viral, with him facing criticism over the words he left on a post about George Floyd, who was killed by a police officer in 2020.

What did Fernando Mendoza say about George Floyd?
An Instagram post from LeBron James in 2020 was recently resurfaced, which shows a photo of police officer Derrick Chauvin kneeling on Floyd. Chauvin killed Floyd while he was being arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in May 2020, and he was arrested and convicted of unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.
Alongside that was a photo of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick also kneeling, with the caption "This...Is Why."
Mendoza, would have then been in high school, allegedly left a comment on James' post that read: "You need to explain the context of the first photo of the cop on the man, because you never know what he did wrong."
