It is race to the bottom with all airlines at the moment, as they are introducing more bare bones fares, and scam charges that we couldn’t even think of before.
Airlines have been selling astronomically expensive flex fares for years that business travelers tend to use due to flexibility, such as free refunds or changes, but this has now changed with Air France-KLM.
You can access Air France here, and KLM here.
Air France and KLM have now introduced 300 to 500 euro fees to refund FLEX fares in most markets:
• Economy Flex: EUR 300
• Premium/Premium Comfort Flex: EUR 400
• Business Flex: EUR 500
So, now your FLEXIBLE fare is no longer FLEXIBLE, as the name suggests; you need to pay up to 500 euros to get a refund.

Air France-KLM Announcement:
Conclusion
FLEX fares have always been the most expensive, while offering flexibility to change or refund them if plans change.
Air France and KLM are now essentially penalizing business travelers who reserve these, as they are now required to book away from these two airlines. This change by Air France and KLM means that by introducing this fee, they are excluded from many fare searches.
Air France & KLM tried quietly to sneak in this fee and issued the above note only to the travel trade, with no communication to Flying Blue members. A reader (thanks!) flagged this change with us.
