Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health has partnered with Cookeville (Tenn.) Regional Medical Center to build a freestanding, 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital on Cookeville Regional’s main campus.

The hospital will provide care for stroke and other neurological conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic issues, according to an April 22 system news release. It will also provide physical, occupational and speech therapies alongside 24-hour nursing care.

Encompass Health began managing the regional hospital’s existing 20-bed inpatient rehab unit in January. Those existing beds will be added to the new rehab hospital upon completion in 2027.
