The best slider buns aren’t easy to find. There just aren’t a lot of them at the grocery store! Don’t we all love small burgers? What gives? Well, when we first conducted this taste test, we only tried one brand that was worthy of ranking among the best slider buns. This time around, I’m pleased to report that I was able to add two more exemplary (and delightfully small) burger buns to the list.
What do we want from the best slider buns?
Well, different slider buns are good for different things. Some of these are light and airy and great for little ham sandwiches for your next tailgate party. Others are sturdy enough to sop up the juices from a burger patty cooked med-rare. But here’s what all the best slider buns have in common:
• A soft, supple bite. No brittle buns, plz! Eating small burgers can be messy enough without the bun falling apart in your fingers.
• Flavor, but not too much flavor. The bun doesn’t need to be the star here—we want to load these little things up with all sorts of good stuff and we want those fixings to be what shines.
If small burgers are on the menu this BBQ season, here are the buns you need to buy.
