The 2025 season was not pretty for the New York Giants. Four wins, a fired head coach, quarterback changes, and injuries all sucked the wind right out of this organization.

One of the most blatant areas the Giants suffered last season was in the kicking game. That actually isn't new; the kicking game has plagued the Giants for several seasons now, but last season was a doozy.

The Giants rostered four different kickers in 2025: Graham Gano, Younghoe Koo, Jude McAtamney, and Ben Sauls. In 2024, the Giants were forced to use Jamie Gillan as a kicker at one point, and no one wanted that again in 2025.

Koo, however, may have given Gillan a run for his money at being bad at his job with a horribly botched field goal attempt against the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football.

The Giants set up for a field goal attempt, and everything looked fine until Koo made his run-up to the ball. He planted his left foot and brought his right leg back to kick the ball, but somehow, his right foot hit the ground and sent him sprawling, leaving Gillan to take a tackle for a 13-yard loss.

If you were watching from home, you both groaned and laughed, and one Kentucky man laughed so hard it sent him to the hospital.

Mark Toothaker rewound and replayed the missed field goal attempt, laughing hard enough to bring on a seizure.

"I've never felt anything like this in my life," Toothaker told the Associated Press. "I felt like I got electrocuted."

Toothaker's wife, Mallory, is a nurse at a rehabilitation facility and works with a brain injury doctor. She initially thought her husband was joking, but quickly realized that wasn't the case and called paramedics. After doing a CT scan on his brain, the Toothakers were told that Mark had a tennis ball-sized tumor in his brain, a shock no one is ever prepared to hear.

"(The) kicker saved my life because it could’ve happened any other time," Toothaker said. "I wholeheartedly believe I was in the right spot at the right time, and he was the trigger for that happening. It was a miracle."

Thankfully, the tumor was successfully removed and appears to be benign. However, without that laugh putting him into a seizure, you never know how long it would have taken them to learn that he had that tumor at all.

So, it seems that Koo's hilarious error on Monday Night Football may have very well saved a man's life.
