Air France-KLM Flying Blue has released its latest promotional awards for May 2026, which now also include the Extra Exclusive destinations. These awards are valid for travel through Octiober 31, 2026, and must be booked by the end of this month.
The maximum discount is 25% off the required miles, although the rebate was sometimes as high as 50% (not recently though).
You can access Flying Blue’s promotional awards page here.
Miles Sales
Flying Blue frequently sells miles with a 100% to 120% bonus. You can check if your account is eligible for any current offers here. You can also subscribe to have miles credited to your account for a reasonable monthly fee (read more here—and access it here).
Remember to use the award calendar to check one month at a time:

Flying Blue tries desperately to expand into subscription revenue and has launched Extra-bundles:
Air France – KLM Flying Blue Extra Essential (€379) & Extra (€699) Launch
May 2026 Promo Awards Destinations
Short/Medium Haul
Long-Haul
The Europe – Los Angeles and Fort de France and only available at the discounted rate FROM Europe.
You can also book these one-way. These are not only for flights originating from Europe, as they are valid for all long-haul destinations in both directions. Flying Blue used to divide Europe into zones 1, 2, and 3, but now seems to use the designation “EUROPE” for all these zones.
Note that Europe should include all the following countries for long-haul awards:
Europe 1 Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg
Europe 2 Austria, Balearic Islands, Finland, Denmark, Italy, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden
Europe 3 Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Canary Islands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Libya, Lithuania, Latvia, Macedonia, Moldova, Morocco, Poland, Romania, West Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Tunisia, Ukraine.
Flying Blue has adjusted the taxes and fuel surcharges it collects for award tickets, making economy awards a more attractive deal than they used to be. Additionally, the fuel surcharge that Air France-KLM now refers to as a “carrier-imposed international surcharge” is capped for premium economy, business, and first-class flights.
Conclusion
Flying Blue desperately tries to push these Extra-bundle sales that make no sense at all when you compare the benefits to the price they charge. The product is “free” (included in the Amex fee) for those with Flying Blue and Amex cobranded cards in France.
All short-haul awards, except two, are Extra Exclusive, and 8 of the 7 long-haul ones are also only available for Extra Exclusive subscribers. All the long-haul economy discounted awards, except one, are to the US, a clear indication where AFKLM may have some capacity issues.
