Hartford, Conn.-based Trinity Health of New England has named a pair of interim leaders for Hartford-based Saint Francis Hospital.
Robert Roose, MD, who leads Trinity Health of New England’s community hospitals, will serve as interim president of Saint Francis as well as Hartford-based Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, according to an April 30 Trinity news release. Jennifer Misajet, RN, will serve as interim chief nursing officer.
The system is also working to name an interim chief medical officer and is recruiting for a vice president of operations role at Saint Francis, as well as other positions.
“These changes come after months of hearing from colleagues, patients, community members and regulators who have raised important concerns and expectations,” Trinity Health said in the news release. “We brought in a nationally respected healthcare consulting firm to review our operations and practices to improve quality and safety. The Department of Public Health’s extended on-site presence at Saint Francis has reinforced the need for immediate and meaningful action.”
Steven Hanks, MD, president and CEO of Trinity Health New York, is assuming expanded system leadership responsibilities that include Trinity Health of New England. The two regions will maintain separate brand identities. Both are part of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health.
Montez Carter, who had served as Trinity Health of New England’s president and CEO, is shifting into an advisor role supporting Dr. Hanks and Dr. Roose during the transition, according to the release. He will depart the organization on July 1.
“I have been at Saint Francis. I have been with our teams, and I have seen the care and the commitment that is there every day,” Dr. Hanks said in the release. “I have also seen areas where additional focus and improvement are required, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. We are going to fix what needs fixing. And we are going to earn back the trust that Saint Francis has always stood for.”
