LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball has officially signed its third transfer portal recruit this offseason, with the addition of Charleston center Christian Reeves.
Reeves joins Utah forward Keanu Dawes and Toledo guard Leroy Blyden Jr. as players who’ve signed with the Jayhawks. They’re all part of a growing list of newcomers on the roster, including a high-profile group of incoming freshmen in the class of 2026. That group of first-year college athletes includes the 247Sports No. 1 overall prospect in Tyran Stokes.

“I think that Christian will have an immediate impact for us,” KU coach Bill Self said in a release. “He really didn’t have an opportunity to play a ton until College of Charleston, and what was so impressive is he averaged over 11 points and eight rebounds a game with a hurt shoulder all season long. It’s exciting because he’s dealt with so many injuries, and for the first time in his college career, we can see the potential because it's the first time he’s really been able to play.”
Reeves, listed by KU at 7-foot-2 and 255 pounds, started 18 of his 31 appearances this past season for Charleston. While averaging 21.4 minutes per game, he also averaged 11.1 points and 7.8 rebounds. He didn’t attempt any 3s, but did shoot 65.4% from the field and 60.4% from the free throw line.
Reeves will compete for playing time in the front court with returning center Paul Mbiya, who emerged during the postseason with the Jayhawks. Whether one of the two starts or another player enters the competition at the five-spot, both will be key contributors for KU. Kansas is looking to compete for the Big 12 Conference and national success.
