Former UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad will put his ranking on the line and attempt to snap a two-fight losing skid against surging contender Gabriel Bonfim in June's UFC Fight Night 278 main event.

Muhammad (24-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC) will look to return to the win column for the first time since dropping his UFC welterweight crown. At UFC 315, Jack Della Maddalena won a unanimous decision to claim the title. In Muhammad's next outing in November, he came up short on the scorecards against Ian Machado Garry. The last victory for the 37-year-old former champ was his title-clinching win over Leon Edwards at UFC 304 in July 2024.
Bonfim (19-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) enters his second main event opportunity. His first came in November against Randy Brown, a fight he won by second-round stoppage. The 28-year-old welterweight contender is currently riding a four-fight winning streak that includes wins over Ange Loosa, Khaos Williams, and former title challenger Stephen Thompson.

According to Betway, the former titleholder Muhammad is a +150 underdog against Bonfim, who opens as the favorite at -200.
