The San Antonio Spurs begin their conference semifinal series this Monday. They enter the matchup as favourites against the Minnesota Timberwolves despite recent momentum on the opposing side.
Minnesota arrive with confidence after eliminating the Denver Nuggets, despite missing key players, which adds intrigue to the upcoming series.
One of the Spurs standouts, Stephon Castle addressed the challenge on Sunday. He outlined what he believes will be crucial if his team is to slow down the Timberwolves effectively.

Castle made it clear that the Spurs are fully aware of the offensive threats Minnesota possess. He emphasised the depth of scoring options that make them difficult to contain.
“They have a lot of scorers,” Castle said when asked about the matchup.
“It will be similar to, but not as straight forward as Portland. I would say they have a lot more dynamic players.”
Castle also noted that Minnesota could soon regain important pieces during the series, as he stated: “They have some players out, but obviously we expect they will come back.
“Just trying to keep them out of the paint. They have a lot of guys that can shoot and score with space.”
Timberwolves dealing with key absences ahead of opener
Minnesota’s line-up situation remains a factor entering Game 1. The team will be without Donte DiVincenzo, who is sidelined with a serious Achilles injury.
His absence is long-term, ruling him out for the remainder of the season. That removes an important contributor from their rotation.
Anthony Edwards and Ayo Dosunmu are also dealing with minor injuries. Both players are expected to return at some stage during the series.
They are currently listed as questionable for the opener. That raises the possibility they could miss only one or two games before returning.
