IHG has a new partner in Germany, Payback, which has its own rewards ecosystem in the market.
Payback members can earn points for IHG stays, but those points cannot be converted to back to IHG but must be used for some other purposes (no idea to what).

Note that Payback is like one of the airline partnerships that IHG has. You must change your IHG earning preference to Payback points, and you cannot simultaneously earn IHG One Rewards points.
You earn 1 PAYBACK point for every 2 euros.
Conclusion
I have seen this Payback mentioned quite frequently in the German-speaking world, but in general, these partnerships that require you to forgo earning IHG One Rewards points for hotel stays don’t make much sense.
