Emirates has loosened its no-questions-asked, flexible rebooking and refund policy for flights between February 28 and May 31, 2026, by now allowing changes more than 72 hours before scheduled departure.
You can rebook the flight until June 15 (even change the destination), or request a refund, even if your flight is not disrupted.
You can access Emirates here.
Note that you were previously allowed to make changes only 72 hours before the scheduled departure time, but this restriction has now been removed. There are no other policy changes.
The Travel Waiver is still valid for flights between February 28 and May 31, 2026, and the new date must be on or before June 15.
Emirates Update:
I have an Emirates flight next week that is more than 72 hours out.
The system would allow me to change the date without changing the destination, or fly to London or any other destination in Europe where Emirates flies without extra charge.
Note that Emirates offers additional flexibility for tickets issued on or after April 2, 2026, which offers one free date change within the ticket validity, but there could be a fare difference collected:
Emirates Offers One Free Date Change On Tickets Issued From April 2, 2026
Emirates has also extended Skywards tiers and miles expiry until June 30, 2026.
Emirates Extends Skywards Tiers & Pauses Miles Expiry Until June 30, 2026
Conclusion
This theoretically opens up more possibilities to book tickets to a cheaper destination in the arrival zone and later change it to the destination you actually want to travel to.
I made the booking for the city pairs that I was planning to travel between, so this won’t affect me, but I am glad that you can now amend bookings made more than 72 hours before, and mine wasn’t even booked directly with Emirates, as I made it with Amex Travel (for a slight discount).
