To anyone who’s allergic to thinking about Christmas before a certain time of the year, look away now – because if you were, we’re pretty sure that you won’t be happy about us doing so in May. Look, we get it: Summer hasn’t even arrived yet, and so thinking about the yuletide period feels utterly wild.

However, not only am I of the opinion that it’s never too early to start getting excited about Christmas, but I’m also here to inform you that, as @candyhunting has reminded us, it’s the Sweets & Snacks Expo in a couple of weeks, and so we’re about to see a bunch of new items that will be lined up for Xmas 2026. And one of them is the new Dr Pepper Candy Cane. Grab your Santa hat.

Dr Pepper Candy Canes: Ho, Ho, Ho

As per @candyhunting, Dr Pepper’s Candy Canes are due to make a comeback this year, following a run during last year’s Christmas period. These candy canes were previously available on their own from stores like Dollar General or as part of a soda-inspired variety pack from Walmart, which also included 7Up and A&W Root Beer canes. Now, though, they’ve reappeared on DoorDash, with someone at the delivery company clearly getting very ahead of the game this year.

These candy canes, which are due to be announced at the Sweets & Snacks Expo (which will take place from May 19 to 21), will be made by Spangler Candy, the same company that produced them last year. We’d imagine that they’ll start appearing on the other side of summer. We’d hope they do, at least. Yeah, I love Christmas, but I also don’t need to buy things that far ahead of time.

Are They Any Good?

You know what? If Spangler Candy keeps the same recipe that it used last year, we think they will be – provided that you like Dr Pepper. People who tried these candy canes last Christmas discussed them over on Reddit, and the general consensus was that they’re a very close match for the soda. “I’m on my second box. Taste totally like Dr. Pepper. My new favorite candy cane,” said one Redditor.

We’re also willing to bet that if you’re a fan of the endless parade of Dr Pepper-flavored products, you’ll be a fan of these. The drinks brand is absolutely no stranger to releasing food items that have its distinctive taste, including smoked sausage and Dippin’ Dots. Its Creamy Coconut flavor has also just returned, to big fanfare, and has arrived with a bunch of merch in tow.
